Q: What are NSANYS and NSNA?
A: Both the NSANYS and the National Student Nurses’ Association (NSNA) are pre-professional associations for nursing students. Involvement in both associations prepares students for involvement in professional associations and leadership positions after graduation. More information about NSNA can be found on the NSNA web site www.nsna.org.
NSANYS is composed of and governed by nursing students. The Board of Directors and the Nominating and Elections Committee are elected at the Annual House of Delegates. All the members of the Board of Directors and the Nominating and Elections Committee are nursing students. The House of Delegates is composed of nursing students who represent their school constituents.
Q: What is the difference between NSANYS and NSNA?
A: Nursing Students Association of New York State (NSANYS) is the state student nurses association where as National Student Nurses Association is nationwide. For more information on NSNA click on this NSNA link: www.nsna.org
Q: How do I get involved in NSANYS and/or NSNA?
A: To become a member you just simply fill out an application and pay the nominal application fee. If you are attending a school in New York State, you automatically become a member of NSANYS upon becoming a member of NSNA. An application for membership can be obtained from your Student Nurses Association student president and/or Project InTouch recruiter. You can also join NSNA online at https://nsnamembership.org

NSNA Membership is open to Nursing Students in Associate Degree, Diploma, Baccalaureate, generic Masters and generic Doctoral programs preparing students for Registered Nurse licensure, as well as RNs in BSN completion programs.
Q: How do I get involved in NSANYS and/or NSNA?
A: New York State Membership Dues are as follows:
- New Member $30.00
- Renewals $40.00
- Two Year Membership $70.00
Please notice that new members and members joining for two years receive a discount on national dues. National and state dues are paid directly to NSNA when you send in your membership form. If your school has a total school membership, dues are collected by your school.
Q: How much does it cost to join NSNA?
A: As mentioned above, when you become a member of NSNA you become a member of NSANYS. As a member of NSNA you will receive benefits, such as the following:
- Receiving Imprint magazine.
- Availability of low-cost malpractice insurance, group health insurance, and student education loan program.
- Participation in Breakthrough to Nursing, community health, legislative and recruitment projects.
- Discounts on nursing-related items, state board review courses, publications, textbooks and journals.
- Reduced registration fees for the Annual Convention and MidYear Conference.
- NSNA Foundation Scholarship Program that offers scholarships annually.

A: A resolution is a written statement of importance expressed in formal wording. It serves to establish or make known the position an association takes on matter of national scope and significance effecting nursing students, nursing, and the health needs of the public.
