MORNING KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Dr. Kenya Beard, EdD, AGACNP-BC, ANEF, FAAN
Keynote Topic: TBD Dr. Kenya Beard, EdD, AGACNP-BC, ANEF, FAAN is the Inaugural Dean and Chief Nursing Officer at Mercy University School of Nursing and past chair of the New York State Board of Nursing. As a 2012 Macy Faculty Scholar committed to strengthening workforce diversity and advancing health equity, she founded the Center for Multicultural Education and Health Disparities and propagated research and best practices to improve health outcomes. She later served as a Senior Fellow at the Center for Health Policy and Media Engagement and co-produced healthcare disparity segments on WBAI-FM for over 400,000 listeners. She served as a reviewer for the Future of Nursing's 2020-2030 report and co-edited The Future of Nursing 2020-2030: Global Applications to Advance Health Equity book to support the operationalization of health equity. She currently serves on the editorial board for the American Journal of Nursing and is a member of the American Academy of Nursing's Institute for Nursing Leadership National Advisory Council.
AFTERNOON KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Dr. Angela M. Godwin, PhD(c), DNP, FNP-BC, RN
Keynote Topic: TBD Dr. Angela M. Godwin, PhD(c), DNP, FNP-BC, RN is a proud Florida Gator from the University of Florida where she graduated with her Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, with honors. After working in cardiology and while working as a float nurse at New York Presbyterian, she obtained her Masters as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Columbia University and shortly after obtained her board certification from the ANCC. In 2007 she joined the faculty at New York University and is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor where she focuses on preparing students for the NCLEX as well as teaches various undergraduate courses as well as the graduate Advanced Pathophysiology course. In 2015 she returned to Columbia and completed her Doctorate in Nursing Practice and is currently completing a terminal degree in research with her focus on bariatrics and the underutilization of healthcare by minority populations. Lastly, Dr. Godwin owns and operates The Weight NP, a private weight loss clinic with locations in NYC. Here she focuses on medically-supervised weight loss where the motto is: “Because weight loss is more than just diet and exercise."
